Business Update

Here is a beautifully executed concrete ramp for Tesla. Quality work like this continues to bring our customers back for more.
One thing is for sure: great work attracts attention. It also generates repeat business from existing clients. Hats off to the best sales squad we’ve got – our project execution teams!
For instance:
We are also pleased to report that a new client has joined the SilMan Community. Please welcome US Pipe, who has invited our construction team onsite for an industrial decking project.
In fact, let’s hear from US Pipe to close out this topic. Here is a message received from the client at the conclusion of the project:
“Hey, sorry to bother you on your time off. I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the Team you sent out. They did an excellent job. Everyone was very impressed with how well everything turned out (esp. with the rotten beams underneath). We’ll talk again soon, we have some more RFQs for you. Let’s keep knocking this s**t out! Thanks!”
Boom!
Well done, Mike Bucci and Shane Benson.

From The Field
Tupelo M&E at FedEx
Our Mississippi Mechanical and Electrical teams have been hard at work for Siemens at the FedEx “mothership” facility in Memphis.
Siemens was engaged by DMW&H to provide their Visicon Polaris system. And happily, SilMan is receiving rave reviews from all parties, including one commentator who said, “we’re not used to working with people as efficient as you.”
Yep, sounds like a SilMan team! Guilty as charged…
This is a large-scale undertaking. Our teams have been deploying these systems all over the country. In the 100+ Visicon systems SilMan has installed across the country, they typically require 1 or 2 lines.
The total number of systems being implemented for FedEx Memphis: 24!
Challenges
Matt Gann is the installation team leader and provides material, tooling, and schedule for the project.
He said, “this is a big place, with multiple layers of technology and infrastructure. Getting all the details right between all of the parties is a constant undertaking. Our team has done a great job being flexible, patient, and accommodating in each situation as it arises – and keeping us on schedule!”
Keys to Success:
And here is that team!
Chris Gann, Dale Porter, David Hutcherson, Dena Gann, Elizabeth Kasper, Howard Fisher, Jamel Patterson, Jeff Porter, Jeremy Conlee, John Kostelic, John Wells, Johnny Pruett, Joshua Wardlow, Lindsey Donaldson, Mitchell Dean, Richard Flick, Ronnie Huguley, Sarah Sherman, Skyler Scates, Thomas Blackwell, Trace Porter
“This is a top-notch group. I would go anywhere in the country with them. Day in and day out I know I can rely on them to do what is needed to get the job done.” – Matt Gann

Community Spotlight
Meet Irael Hernandez

Irael Hernandez is our newest Field Safety Specialist after making a recent role change from the Laborer Team. He is looking forward to all the challenges ahead.
Irael has been with SilMan since 2019. He came to SilMan from residential construction (four years) where he began as a driver and worked his way into a carpentry apprenticeship. He loves framing!
But HOW did he get here? I suspect that his off-roading buddy, Angel Huerta, had something to do with it…
In addition to churning up dirt on his Kawasaki KLX300R, Irael loves to drive. Anywhere.
Most importantly, he is a family man and loves to be social. If there is a gathering going on, he’s in!
And a word about his name: No, his parents didn’t misspell “Israel.” It is a custom name, created just for him!
What is your favorite part of working at SilMan?
“I love that I can bring stability to my family, and that there is always room to grow.” – Irael

Safety Tip
Hear ye, Hear ye!

Hearing is one of the most important of the five senses. It is the fundamental way we communicate. Or as Helen Keller put it: “Blindness cuts us off from things, but deafness cuts us off from people.”
Therefore, hearing protection must be a crucial part of our Safety awareness.
Permanent hearing loss can occur when the ears are exposed to 85 decibels over an 8-hour period. 140 decibels can cause immediate and permanent hearing loss. There is no getting that back.
To better understand how this translates to the job site, consider this:
Hearing safety is often overlooked at work and at home, but it is clear that vigilance is needed. And even if you already have hearing damage, it is never too late to start protecting yourself.
Take a deeper dive. Here is the SilMan Hearing Conservation Program, which includes guidance about ear protection choices and noise levels of common equipment.

I Loved Her First
Chris Gann is an electrician based in our Tupelo office, and he is one of SilMan’s road warriors.
He spoke to us from Jacksonville, Florida, and will soon be heading to Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Gann’s favorite song is “I Loved Her First” by the Nashville band, Heartland.
“I love this song because it always reminds me of my baby girl, Kaitlyn, who is now 15 years old.” Chris has another daughter who has recently added two grandchildren to the family.

Reflections On The Way We Work & Connect
Success as a Team!
We often try to do everything on our own. This is not surprising as personal strength and independence are glorified in popular culture.
And perhaps we also feel that others may not fully carry out our vision for the task at hand.
Let’s stop for a moment and look at our current successes.
Be honest, could you have accomplished all of this by yourself?!
Helping others and asking for support is like a muscle. The more you exercise that muscle, the stronger it gets over time.
It’s not always easy to ask for help. Nevertheless, we must continue to lean in and work together to move forward.
Furthermore, keep in mind that some people find fulfillment by providing help and support. By asking for help, you’re educating yourself and helping them to fulfill their purpose. By requesting assistance or offering it, you help each other grow and continue to build the team.
Success as a Team reflects our willingness to ask for – and offer – help to those around us.
